When were you introduced to the stock market for the 1st time?
I was 13, we had Aol dial-up, and my dad would live on the Yahoo Stocks site.
I was such a curious kid and would ask what he was always looking at and he would love to talk about it all.
“This is stock for a company creating wearable devices for doctors. I own 1000 shares of it which means I own a little bit of the company. When they do well, we make money.”
I’ve remained curious for these last 22 years.
The incredible rise in price…
My Vision For A Work Life That Sparks Joy In Me
I’m calling this my homework from the Joy At Work book I’m reading by Mario Kondo.
This is all about tidying your physical and digital workspace and you’ve lived under a rock for 20 years, Mario Kondo is the queen of tidying up your life and home.
Chapter 2 is all about visualizing the perfect work life situation around what your workspace looks like. She says to go into concrete details.
This is me trying that now.
It’s Thursday morning and I’m coming into work. Yes, Thursday. It’s my…
My parents think I’m investing. I feel like I’m basically gambling…
One thing is for sure though… I’m actually saving meaningfully for the 1st time ever in my life.
I’m a 35-year-old professional in the tech industry and have done fine and dandy for the last decade of my life. I’m not rich but I’ve held several programmer jobs that have paid in those $60k-$160k ranges.
I would say I make great money but in this whole decade, I have saved very little. I’ve basically learned to spend what I make.
That changed this year, however…
This year I’ve never…
Adult ADHD: Writing Task Narratives
I tried something today… I wrote out a paragraph describing the task I was about to do.
Then… I did it.
Those who suffer with AADHD can struggle with focused attention on task. It’s but 1 of the symptoms and in the world of phones that never leave our hands, notifications that never cease, and endless input overload, the ability to stay on a task in a focused manner only compounds.
So what’s this narrative thing?
Right, so here what I did. This morning as I looked at my todo list in my Things app…
Spotify’s New Stories Feature Is Special In A Unique Way
Every big app seems to have a “Stories” element built into it now. What began with Snapchat and duplicated with Instagram to a great success, has continued into Facebook, YouTube, WhatsApp, Weibo, and recently Twitter.
Now… Spotify is testing out their Stories and I actually found it quite interesting.
I hopped onto my favorite music app to test it out. I searched for “Christmas” and tapped on “Christmas Hits” and there it showed itself… that all to familiar circle with a prompt to Tap.
I watched clips by Ava Max…
Quibi is a new streaming provider and the brainchild of Jeffrey Katzenberg, who was the chairman of Walt Disney Studios from 1984–94. I’m 34 so his work shaped my childhood with all the Disney movies I was binging before that word was ever connected to watch habits. Meg Whitman is CEO of Quibi. She is also on the board of directors for both Proctor & Gamble & Dropbox. Quite the powerhouse duet has assembled here and I believe that may be needed in order to make a run for your streaming dollars when competition in that market is cutthroat.
Record Maker is the app and I’m shocked fewer people downloaded and used it so far. But here’s how it works:
The idea of adding multiple forms of media (photo/video & even gifs) into one Instagram Story clip is actually pretty straightforward thanks to the “Add Sticker” feature in IG.
If you can dream it, you can do it.
Okay, here goes everything…
It’s a cloudy 7 a.m. in the classic canal area of Amsterdam. I quietly leave the bed, shared with my girlfriend Valery inside our 2-bedroom flat. I leave her alone to slumber 1 more hour and I take my leave to the kitchen.
